133t Project Manifesto

20 January 2009

Upon review of the R 3 Million new, streamlined & 'modern' IEC website (Elections.org.za), we wish to announce the birth of a new initiative in the digital sector - the 133T project.

We hold the following beliefs to be self-evident.

As South Africans we are a proud nation, and as such should be represented with pride. We bare no ill-will toward the Government or it's officials but, we demand service delivery through the appropriate allocation of capital and resources without nepotism or other such corrupt relationships. As South Africans we must have the right to hold Government and it's incumbent bodies accountable for the irresponsible, poorly supervised & often corrupted process through which contracts are awarded. We believe that every South African must have access to broadband Internet, and taught the appropriate skills by which to navigate it - for no man is free without access to information and opportunity. We assert that Government must invest in open source technologies over costly commercial offerings in order to cut needless spending and corporate impotence in the Information Technology sector. We put it to the South African public that Government should be increasing efficiency in service delivery through the utilization of open source technologies and the vast number of talented IT professionals in South Africa.

Over the past 24 hours we've assembled some South Africa's brightest and most talented designers, developers, legal advisers & financial officers to form the 133T project with the aim to offer Government direct access to the talented individuals available in this industry - the experts, visionaries and engineers that are putting South Africa on the map as a World-class IT provider by pushing the open source frontier. Let us stand as a united and visible body as we implore Government to utilize the truly skilled & talented professionals from the South African public.

If you believe, what we believe - take a stand with us and donate your skills & resources to the 133T project.
